Each time your email is viewed by your contact, it is counted as 1 view. If your contact forwards your email and they open the forwarded email, that is also counted as 1 view under the contact that forwarded your email
In the dashboard you can see unique views and total views. Unique view is the first view from an individual recipient while overall view is counted as many times someone has opened an Email.
Forwarded emails are not counted.
